VSP Ambassador Program

Your peer-to-peer resource for all things VSP.

VSP Ambassadors work closely with other VSP network doctors to elevate ideas and opportunities to deliver value to private practice doctors, and provide feedback that shapes solutions to support the long-term success of the profession. Additionally, VSP Ambassadors share VSP updates and resources with peers, acting as a resource to help answer questions about VSP Vision policies, products, and services.

Robert Bass, OD, FAAO

“My role as a VSP Ambassador is to be a conduit of VSP knowledge to network doctors and back to VSP with questions and opinions from my peers. In this role, I like being the first to know about enhancements to VSP plans that affect practices and patients. After new information is delivered, I like having direct contact with VSP staff to get member doctors questions answered and pass on their favorable or unfavorable opinions. I've enjoyed collaborating with Ambassadors from all 50 states, with VSP staff and network doctors so much so that I have continued in this role for over 35 years.”

"As an ambassador, I have been most honored to come in contact with some really impressive ODs and industry leaders across the nation. This role has allowed me invaluable interaction with brilliant minds in Optometry that I would not have otherwise obtained, especially secluded in my own practice. Optometry attracts the most giving, kind-hearted, and servant-driven people to its profession. My role as an ambassador has reminded me why I'm incredibly proud to call myself an Optometric Physician!"

Mumtaz Bashir, O.D.

"Being a VSP ambassador has been a fantastic opportunity for me to network with like-minded professionals. We exchange experiences, learn about each other’s successes and challenges, and brainstorm ways to implement fresh ideas into our practices. I have had some great insights into the challenges and successes other doctors face in growing their optometry practices. Networking with peers allows for sharing valuable strategies and solutions, and it’s always rewarding to make new friends! These connections not only enrich my individual practice but also contribute to the broader optometric landscape. Being an ambassador for VSP allows me to champion these values and foster meaningful relationships with fellow doctors who are equally dedicated to excellence in eye care."
